Tanker
Tanker Truck Insurance
Liquid loads move differently, and so does their risk. From food-grade liquids to hazmat, we place tanker operations with markets that write them well.
What is tanker truck insurance?
Tanker truck insurance is commercial coverage for liquid bulk hauling, from milk and food-grade liquids to fuel and chemicals. Policies combine commercial auto liability, physical damage, and motor truck cargo, with hazmat commodities adding federal MCS-90 filings and higher liability minimums.
Tanker work spans everything from milk and liquid feed to fuel and chemicals, and the insurance market treats each very differently. Surge dynamics make the driving itself harder; the commodity decides the liability picture; and hazmat endorsements bring federal filing requirements most agents rarely touch.
We sort your operation into the right market the first time: food-grade with food-grade underwriters, hazmat with carriers that want it and price it competitively. And because the account is quoted as a whole, your auto liability, cargo, and physical damage arrive as one coherent program.

Bulk Trucking InsuranceWhat we look at
Hazmat filings and endorsements
Hazardous commodities bring MCS-90 filings and higher liability minimums. We handle the filings and make sure the limits meet both the law and the shipper's contract.
Surge and rollover
Partial liquid loads are the hardest thing on the road to drive. Markets that understand tanker work underwrite the operation, the equipment, and driver experience together.
Product liability at delivery
A contaminated or mis-delivered liquid load can create losses far beyond the freight value. We talk through where that exposure sits and what responds to it.
Questions
Asked and answered.
Do you write hazmat tanker operations?
Yes. Hazmat brings higher liability minimums and federal filings, and we work with markets that write it every day. Tell us the commodity list and we'll place it accordingly.
We haul food-grade liquid. Does that change the quote?
It usually helps. Food-grade work is a favorable class with many of our markets, and washout and dedication practices strengthen the submission further.
Can you cover a mixed fleet of tankers and hoppers?
Yes, and on one program. Mixed bulk fleets are common among our clients; quoting the account together usually beats insuring the two halves separately.
How much does tanker truck insurance cost?
Expect a typical range of $9,000 to $16,000 per year per truck for a full package under your own authority, with hazmat endorsements and higher liability limits pushing the top of that range up. These are averages to plan around, not a quote or a guarantee: commodity, record, and market conditions set the actual price. Quoting your operation costs nothing.
Never question your coverage
