Insurance built for bulk haulers
Hopper or pneumatic, one truck or a fleet, bulk freight is our home turf. We come from BulkLoads, so we know your trailers, your lanes, and your customers before you finish the first call.
What is bulk trucking insurance?
Bulk trucking insurance is commercial truck insurance for operations hauling dry or liquid bulk commodities in hopper bottom, end dump, pneumatic, tanker, and similar trailers. The core of a policy is commercial auto liability, physical damage, and motor truck cargo, with limits and terms matched to bulk freight: commodity values that swing with the market, seasonal operating patterns, and equipment that unloads itself.

Questions
Asked and answered.
What coverage does a bulk trucking operation need?
The core is commercial auto liability (typically $1 million), physical damage on the tractor and trailer, and motor truck cargo sized to the commodities you haul. Depending on the operation, general liability, non-trucking liability, and trailer interchange round it out. We quote the account as one program so nothing overlaps or falls through the cracks.
How much does bulk trucking insurance cost per truck?
For an owner-operator with their own authority, a full package typically runs $8,000 to $14,000 per year per truck; leased-on owner-operators usually see $2,000 to $5,000 for physical damage, cargo, and non-trucking liability. Those are typical ranges, not a quote or a guarantee: new authorities run higher, seasoned clean records run lower, and the market moves year to year. A free quote is the only number you can actually use.
Does the trailer type change the price?
Yes. A pneumatic with an expensive blower, an end dump with rollover exposure, and a hopper running harvest surges all read differently to an underwriter. That's why we place each account with markets that write that specific class instead of a generic trucking desk.
Can you write a brand-new authority?
Yes. Expect the first year or two to price higher than an established operation; that's true everywhere in the market. We shop new ventures across the markets that actually want them and set the account up to earn cheaper renewals as the clean history builds.
